I was trying to find the right opportunity to release my songs. I'm a bit of a perfectionist in this way. I was working on learning how to play a bit of slide guitar and found this cool little riff that I was playing with and the skeleton of this song was formed. When deciding on what lyrics I should put in it, I realized that I needed a song to motivate me to release something, even if imperfect. This is where the root of this song is. Have to just be like screw it, I'm going to do this, but I have to put my money where my mouth is because merely saying something and having no action to back it makes me look like I'm not willing to put myself out there. This is the manifestation of that dream, and was the first track that I released after I recorded it. Proud of how it turned out, and hopefully you like it enough to download or play it a few times. The more, the merrier.

Lyrics

Verse I
It’s a low cost, high stakes
Bad dream, deep fake
Jack and coke kinda night
It’s a midnight, sunrise
Day trip, compromise
Before you get in a fight
I’m the real deal, signed/sealed
Built to last, pain in the ass
Not everybody’s cup of tea
I am who I am, that’s all I can
Ever profess to be
Chorus
Put your money where your mouth is
Live in fear and it’ll never be
Put your money where your mouth is
Always aim for what you want to need
Put your money where your mouth is
Can’t keep living in yesterday
Put your money where your mouth is
Gotta live it like it’s your last day
Verse II
It’s a weird life, time flies
Long game, good night
Rose colored view I have
It’s a stop gap, react
Habit forming, combat
When battling your other half
It’s a skinny dip, day trip
Have a blast, heavy tip
Foray into the unknown
Aim high, gotta try
Look down, there’s your fly
Throwing the dog a bone
To chorus
Verse III
No regrets, better yet
Stay dry or get wet
No reward without the risk
Life is short, report
Dance the dance, or be bored
Get off the pot or shit
Wait your turn, live and learn
Stand up, or get burned
Only a few will understand
Being a slave or getting paid
Do or die, no other way
Don’t let life get in the way of your plans
To chorus
End
Damn right
