About me
Roots and things
Kenny Moore’s story doesn’t start in a studio—it starts in south Stockton, California, a place known as much for its struggle as its resilience. Growing up with very little, Kenny learned early how to navigate adversity. Though he fell behind in school at one point, he made up the credits and graduated—choosing to move forward rather than stay stuck. Soon after, he took an even bigger step, joining the United States Marine Corps.
That decision changed everything.
In the Marines, Kenny developed discipline, perspective, and a deeper understanding of the world—experiences that would later shape his songwriting. He also spent time living abroad in Okinawa, Japan and Cherbourg, France, becoming conversational in French and gaining a broader cultural lens that still influences his music today.
He also served as a Counterintelligence Special Agent with the US Army, working to keep our nation safe from domestic and foreign adversaries.
Before and after his service, music remained a constant. What started as a passion grew into a pursuit. Kenny eventually made his way to Los Angeles, where he immersed himself in the music scene, collaborating with funk and jazz musicians who helped refine his rhythmic, percussive guitar style. That foundation—combined with formal training through the Conservatory of Recording Arts—gave him both the ear and the technical skill to bring his sound to life.
Now based in Modesto, California, Kenny Moore creates a style that blends pop-driven acoustic rock with the soul and storytelling influence of Nashville. Drawing inspiration from artists like Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Metallica, Hozier, and Tonic, his music lives at the intersection of raw rhythm and emotional depth—melodic, percussive, and unapologetically honest.
Along the way, he has collaborated and shared musical space with artists such as Brad Gillis and Cat Johnson, while continuing to develop his sound with a production team spanning California and London.
But beyond the résumé, Kenny’s music is rooted in something deeper.
It’s about overcoming. It’s about perspective. It’s about turning real-life experiences—struggle, discipline, travel, and growth—into something that connects.
Whether performing live or recording in the studio, Kenny Moore’s goal is simple: to create music that moves people—rhythmically, emotionally, and honestly—and leaves a lasting impact long after the final note.
As a U.S. Marine, Kenny’s journey into music began before his service, but increasing the seriousness of it, leading him to Los Angeles and eventually Nashville. While in LA he cut his teeth with a number of funk and jazz members that helped shape his sound. That hands-on experience shaped his deep understanding of sound and production, which comes through in every performance and recording. He worked for Barron Hilton (former Hilton Hotels Chairman) directly in his office and provided administrative support and physical security.
